John Rodger

John Rodger possesses a 'full lyric tenor voice of considerable size' and is developing into a promising young artist.

 In the 2009-2010 season Mr. Rodger will cover the role of Haman in Hugo Weisgall's Esther with New York City Opera, he will return to the Young American Artists Program at Glimmerglass Opera where he will sing the role of Gastone and cover Alfredo in La Traviata, he will cover Cavaradossi in Tosca and the title role in Don Carlos with Sarasota Opera as a member of the Studio Artists program, he will sing Luigi in Il Tabarro and Macduff in Macbeth with Taconic Opera in Westchester, New York, he will sing Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera with Opera in the Heights, and he will perform the tenor solo in Mozart's Vesperae solemnes de confessore at Carnegie Hall with MidAmerica Productions.  Mr. Rodger was a member of the Young Artists Program at Opera North in New Hampshire in 2007 and the Young American Artists Program at Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown, New York in 2008. 

 

Mr. Rodger holds degrees from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and Queens College of the City University of New York. He was an Associate Instructor of Music Theory at Indiana University and a member of the student staff of the Otto B. Schoepfle Vocal Arts Center(OBSVAC) directed by Richard Miller at the Oberlin Conservatory. His principle voice teachers have been Beverly Coulter, Richard Miller, Mark Oswald, Timothy Noble, and Arthur Levy.  Mr. Rodger was born in Miami Beach, Florida, and currently lives in New York City.
